Purchase of Building Land and Real Estate

The building space provided for industry and commerce in Glarus has not yet been exhausted. Building land with a central location and good transportation connections costs much less than the national average – especially in comparison to Zurich, which is so nearby.

Comparison of land prices

If a company wants to build in the industrial zone, the Department of Construction and Environment will issue the building permit in two to four weeks. It may take longer if an environmental impact analysis or land use planning process is necessary or someone files an objection.

Foreigners with a valid residence or temporary resident permit from EU and EFTA member states can purchase land and real estate exactly like foreign or foreign-controlled companies who need the land or real estate to pursue their business goals. They do not require a special permit.
