Walensee

Walensee

The Walensee is a popular trip destination in summer, only 30 minutes away from Zurich. The weather is surprisingly mild, palm trees grow by the lake, and you feel almost like you're in distant Ticino. The villages of Walenstadt, Mollis, Filzbach, Obstalden, Unterterzen, Murg, Mühlehorn, Weesen, Betlis and Quinten lie around the lake. Quinten in particular has attracted tourists and trippers. The village on the north shore of the lake is car-free and only accessible by ship or on foot after several hours of walking. The weather is even milder in Quinten, almost Mediterranean.

There are a number of sites around the Walensee, for example

If you're travelling with tent, caravan or camper, you'll find the idyllically situated camping site Gäsi near Weesen. Here, directly on the Walensee, families feel just as comfortable as boaters and surfers.
