Elm

Elm

The holiday region of Elm comprises the villages of Elm, Matt, Engi, Schwanden, Schwändi, Sool, the sun terrace of Weissenberge and the Mettmenalp with Freiberg Kärpf. The basin of the valley is bounded by mighty mountains: Piz Sardona, Piz Segnes and the summits of the Tschingelhörner with Martinsloch in the east, Vorab and Hausstock in the south, and Kärpf in the west.

The holiday region of Elm is a popular destination for families, athletes, school groups and day trippers in winter (40 kilometres of slopes, 14 kilometres of cross-country ski runs, 4 kilometres of sledding runs) and summer (130 kilometres of walking trails). While Weissenberge is a Mecca for paragliders, observant mountain ramblers can often see wild animals in the Freiberg region all around the Mettmenalp. Ibexes, chamois, roe deer, marmots and golden eagles feel at home here in the oldest game preserve in Europe and watch walkers from a safe distance without immediately taking to their heels.
